This is a super long overdue post.
I am pleased to announce that Inez is officially OFF THE PACIFIER!
Since about a month plus ago, we started to wean Inez off the pacifier as she’s already 18 months then. It started when her tu tu start to have a small cut by one side and then the more she sucked, the other end started to have a cut. In the end, these 2 cuts became bigger and Inez was either curious by the cuts or she’s really “itchy-hand”, she went to pull the tu tu and in the end, the tip has a huge hole. My helper saw the opportunity and cut the hole bigger so that there’s no way she can suck.
So, everyday since it happened, she will look at the tu tu and say “hole”. She still ask for it during her sleeping time but she knows that she can’t suck it anymore. So, she will fiddle with it and then throw it one side. Gradually, we told her that the tu tu has hole and cannot be used and Mummy is going to throw it away. Soon, she forgot about the tu tu and has been able to sleep without one.
Of course, she took longer than usual for the first few nights to sleep without the tu tu but after a week or so, she is adjusted without it and able to fall asleep. Now, she just sleeps with her “bu bu” aka diaper cloth.
Hopefully, Alvez will be even easier to wean off the pacifier when he reaches the same age since he is not so addicted to it.
